Fij

Fij is a fictional island nation created for speculative fiction and worldbuilding discussions. In its canonical backstory, Fij comprises a chain of about a dozen inhabited atolls and several smaller islets in the central Pacific. The capital is Miren, located on the main island of Jora, and the population is depicted as diverse, rooted in maritime traditions.

Geographically, Fij features low-lying coral atolls, turquoise lagoons, and mangrove forests. The climate is tropical maritime, with pronounced wet and dry seasons. The government promotes environmental stewardship, including policies for sustainable fisheries, reef restoration, and protected-area networks across the atolls.

Historically, the archipelago was settled by seafaring communities in the early medieval period and later formed a loose confederation known as the Pacific Compact. After a colonial era, Fij declared independence in 1985 and established a constitutional republic with a president as ceremonial head of state and a prime minister as head of government.
