Fereldane is a fictional region within the world of Dragon Age. It is the northernmost human nation, characterized by its harsh, cold climate and a strong, independent culture forged by constant struggle against the Blight and its own internal conflicts. The Fereldane people are known for their resilience, their warrior traditions, and a deep-seated distrust of outsiders, particularly those from more temperate southern lands.

The history of Fereldane is marked by numerous wars and invasions, most notably the repeated incursions of the darkspawn. The nation's political structure is a monarchy, though the power of the Crown has often been challenged by powerful noble houses and the influence of the Chantry. Major cities include Denerim, the capital, and Redcliffe, a strategically important town.

Fereldane's landscape is predominantly mountainous and forested, with vast stretches of tundra in the far north. Its economy relies heavily on mining, logging, and agriculture, though the latter is made difficult by the climate. The mage-apostate phenomenon is a significant concern in Fereldane, leading to a particularly harsh stance against uncontrolled magic users, often resulting in their exile or execution.
