Redcliffe

Redcliffe is a coastal town and suburb on the Redcliffe Peninsula in South East Queensland, Australia. It lies about 26 kilometers north-northeast of Brisbane’s central business district and is part of the City of Moreton Bay. The peninsula projects into Moreton Bay and serves as a regional hub for the northern Brisbane area.

The area has a long Indigenous history prior to European settlement, with the coastal zone traditionally inhabited by Aboriginal groups of the Moreton Bay region. European activity began in the 19th century, and Redcliffe developed as a seaside settlement and port of call for exploration of Moreton Bay and nearby islands. It grew through the late 19th and 20th centuries as a holiday destination and residential community.

Redcliffe is known for its waterfront attractions, including a long timber jetty at Redcliffe Beach and Suttons Beach. The Bee Gees Way, a promenade commemorating the Gibb brothers who grew up nearby, is a notable landmark. The Redcliffe Museum preserves local history and culture, and the area hosts markets and events that attract visitors year-round.

The town provides retail, health and education services to the peninsula. Redcliffe Hospital serves the region, and the local economy incorporates tourism, retirement living, and service industries. The community supports a range of parks, cultural facilities, and recreational amenities that contribute to its regional role.

Transport links connect Redcliffe to Brisbane and other parts of the region. The peninsula is connected by road bridges and major roads, with bus services providing regular connections to the city. The transport network facilitates access for residents, workers, and visitors to and from the Brisbane metropolitan area.
