Fargematriser

Fargematriser, also known as color matrices or color conversion matrices, are a fundamental concept in color science and digital imaging. They are mathematical tools used to transform color values from one color space to another. This is essential because different devices and applications represent and interpret colors in distinct ways. For example, a color displayed on a monitor might be described using RGB (Red, Green, Blue) values, while a printer uses CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). A fargematris acts as a bridge between these different representations.

The core of a fargematris is a set of numerical coefficients, typically arranged in a 3x3 matrix for RGB-based color spaces. When a color's coordinates (e.g., R, G, B) in the source color space are multiplied by this matrix, the result is the color's corresponding coordinates in the target color space. These matrices are derived from the spectral sensitivity of color sensors and the chromaticity coordinates of the primary colors of the respective color spaces.
