Farbmodi

Farbmodi, also known as color modes or color spaces, are systems used to represent and organize colors. Different color modes are designed for different purposes, such as display on screens or printing.

The most common color modes are RGB and CMYK. RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is an additive color model used for digital displays like monitors and televisions. It works by adding different intensities of red, green, and blue light to create a wide spectrum of colors. When all three colors are at their maximum intensity, pure white is produced. When all are at minimum intensity, black is produced.

CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is a subtractive color model used primarily for printing. It works by subtracting light from a white surface. The inks absorb certain wavelengths of light, and the remaining wavelengths are reflected back to our eyes. Cyan, magenta, and yellow are the primary colors in this model. Black ink is added as "Key" (K) because mixing only C, M, and Y often results in a muddy brown rather than a true black, and it also saves ink.

Other color modes exist, such as HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) and HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value), which offer a more intuitive way to think about color by separating its different components. Grayscale is a color mode that represents images using only shades of gray, from black to white. Choosing the correct color mode is crucial for ensuring accurate color reproduction across different media. For web design and digital graphics, RGB is standard, while for print materials, CMYK is typically used.
