Falathrim

The Falathrim, or the Elves of the Falas, are a group of Elves in J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium who dwelt along the Falas, the western coast of Beleriand near the Gulf of Lhûn. They are a branch of the Teleri who chose to remain in Middle-earth rather than complete the Great Journey to Aman, and they came to be ruled by Cirdan the Shipwright, the elder lord of their people.

Geographically, the Falathrim maintained several coastal settlements and harbors along the Falas. They were renowned for their maritime skills, shipbuilding, and navigation, making their coasts a center of seafaring craft in the First Age. Their ports and fleets supplied ships and crews to their allies and played a crucial logistical role during times of war.

In culture and society, the Falathrim were characterized by their seafaring orientation and proficiency at crafting ships and vessels suitable for long sea travel. They maintained close ties with other Elven realms in Beleriand and with those who sailed the paths of the West, contributing to joint efforts against Morgoth in various campaigns.

Historically, the Falathrim supported the Noldor and other Elves in the wars of Beleriand, using their ships to move troops, supplies, and refugees. After major conflicts and the eventual crossing of many Elves to the West, Cirdan remained as their leader in Middle-earth, continuing to oversee the maritime heritage of the Falas.
