Fakturace

Fakturace is the process of issuing invoices for goods sold or services provided. It encompasses creating, sending, recording and following up on payments, and it is a core part of a business’s accounting and tax compliance.

A typical faktura contains information about the supplier and the customer, a unique invoice number and the date of issue, the date of supply, a description and quantity of goods or services, unit price, the tax base, the applicable VAT rate and the VAT amount, the total amount due, the currency, and payment terms including the due date. In many jurisdictions, including Czech practice, electronic forms (such as PDF or structured data formats) are common, and some transactions may require or benefit from electronic verification or signatures.

Legal requirements vary by country, but in the Czech Republic VAT invoices generally must include: date of issue, sequential invoice number, seller and buyer details, seller’s tax identification number (DIC), description of goods or services, quantity and price, tax base, VAT rate and amount, total price including VAT, currency, and the date of the supply. For cross-border or intra-EU transactions, additional fields such as the buyer’s VAT ID may be required. Invoices must be stored and preserved for tax purposes for a defined period, typically many years.

Electronic invoicing is increasingly common for efficiency and interoperability, including formats suitable for public procurement and cross-border trade through EU initiatives such as PEPPOL. Proper fakturace supports timely payments, financial control, and compliance with tax and accounting regulations.
