F2seeria

F2seeria is a line of modular electric micro-mobility devices designed for urban transport. The concept emerged in the mid-2010s as part of a research program focused on extending the lifespan of personal transport equipment through standardised modules. The line targets city commuting, short freight tasks, and shared mobility, with an emphasis on repairability and easy customization.

Design and features: F2seeria devices use a lightweight frame of aluminum alloy and a modular architecture that allows battery packs, drive units, and auxiliary components to be swapped without specialized tools. The standard drive configuration uses a hub or mid-drive motor in the 250–350 W range, with software limits to comply with local regulations. Batteries are modular, with typical capacities from 0.7 kWh to 2.0 kWh and a swappable design in some variants. The control system supports firmware updates, remote diagnostics, and optional theft deterrence.

Variants: The lineup includes F2seeria S1 (standard commuter), S2 (extended range), Rugged (all-terrain chassis with higher clearance), and Cargo (payload-focused variant). Some markets offered a lighter “Lite” subvariant to reduce weight for multi-modal use.

Impact and reception: Trials in several European cities highlighted the potential for reduced maintenance costs and longer vehicle lifecycles due to modularity. Critics pointed to higher upfront costs, limited third-party support, and the need for standardized infrastructure to support swapping.
