Függségcsökkentését, often translated as "addiction reduction" or "harm reduction regarding addiction," refers to a public health approach that aims to decrease the negative consequences associated with substance use and addictive behaviors without necessarily demanding immediate abstinence. This strategy acknowledges that some individuals may not be ready or able to stop using substances entirely, and therefore, it focuses on minimizing the harms that can arise from their use.

Key principles of függségcsökkentését include meeting people where they are, prioritizing safety and well-being, and focusing on incremental progress rather than absolute cessation. Interventions can encompass a wide range of services and strategies.
