EyeQ1
EyeQ1 is a proprietary eye-tracking technology developed by Tobii Dynavox, a company specializing in assistive technology for individuals with communication and mobility challenges. This technology is integrated into various Tobii Dynavox devices and allows users to control their computers, tablets, and communication aids using only their eye movements. The system works by tracking the precise position of the user's pupil. A small infrared light source illuminates the eye, and a camera captures images of the pupil. Sophisticated algorithms then analyze these images to determine where the user is looking on the screen. When the user looks at a specific icon, button, or other interactive element for a set period, it registers as a selection or "click." This enables individuals with severe physical impairments, such as those with conditions like ALS, cerebral palsy, or spinal cord injuries, to interact with digital devices and communicate effectively. The accuracy and responsiveness of EyeQ1 technology are crucial for its usability, allowing for nuanced control and a more natural interaction experience. It is a key component in empowering individuals to maintain independence and engage with the digital world.
