Explorer1Mission
Explorer1Mission is a space research program developed by the Space Research Alliance to study the near-Earth environment and to demonstrate compact satellite technologies for future multi-instrument missions. The program envisions a small, bus-sized spacecraft in low Earth orbit designed to operate for at least two years and to provide continuous measurements of the magnetosphere, radiation environment, and solar-wind interactions with the upper atmosphere. The mission's primary objectives are to map the inner Van Allen belts, characterize plasma populations in the plasmasphere, and test autonomous fault management and crosslink communication in a small-satellite platform.
The spacecraft, Explorer1, uses a modular bus with solar electric propulsion as an optional power-and-control system.
Launch and operations: The mission would launch aboard a dedicated small launch vehicle into a sun-synchronous
As of the latest planning stage, Explorer1Mission remains in concept development with active partner involvement and
