Exhilaration

Exhilaration is a transient emotional state characterized by intense excitement and a strong sense of vitality and pleasure. It is often described as a peak positive affect that heightens alertness and physical energy.

Etymology and triggers: From Late Latin exhilarare, from ex- "out" and hilaris "cheerful," originally meaning to make cheerful or enliven. Exhilaration commonly arises from exhilarating experiences such as thrilling physical activities (skydiving, roller coasters, competitive sports), successful accomplishments, surprise encounters, or social moments of shared excitement. It can also be anticipatory, as people look forward to a hoped-for event.
