EurostatDaten

EurostatDaten refers to the datasets produced and maintained by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. The term is commonly used in German-language contexts to denote the official statistical data published by Eurostat, including macroeconomic indicators (GDP, unemployment, inflation), demography, trade, regional statistics, and social and environmental statistics. EurostatDaten are designed for comparability across EU member states and over time.

They are published through the Eurostat Data Browser and Statistics Database, available for interactive exploration, bulk download, and via the Eurostat API. Data cover EU member states, candidate countries and some EFTA/EEA states, at levels from the EU down to NUTS 0–3 regions. Time series extend from the 1990s to the present, and classifications such as NACE, ISCED, CPA, and COFOG are used to ensure consistency.

The datasets are produced within the European Statistical System (ESS), with harmonized definitions, methodologies, and quality checks. Metadata describe sources, coverage, definitions, and revisions. While EurostatDaten aim for broad comparability, some variables may have gaps or differ in country-specific practices, and microdata access is typically restricted to authorized researchers.

Licence and reuse: EurostatDaten are generally available under the EU Public Sector Information (PSI) Open Data license, allowing free reuse with attribution for both non-commercial and commercial purposes.
