Etterkontrollen

Etterkontrollen is a Norwegian term for a follow-up check conducted after an initial inspection to verify that identified deficiencies have been corrected and that implemented measures are effective. The purpose is to confirm ongoing compliance, monitor outcomes over time, and prevent recurrence of non-compliance.

The term is used across multiple sectors, including public administration, safety and environmental regulation, construction, healthcare, food safety, and industry. It is often mandated by law, regulation, licensing conditions, or contractual agreements, requiring authorities to conduct the follow-up within a specified time frame.

The typical process includes planning and notification, review of documentation and corrective action plans, on-site verification or testing, interviews with responsible personnel, and assessment against defined criteria. The regulator then prepares a report detailing findings, conclusions, and any required further actions or deadlines. Depending on the outcome, remedies may range from confirmed compliance and issuance of a certificate or approval, to new deadlines for corrective actions, additional inspections, or enforcement measures.
