Ethernet Infrastrukturen refer to the physical and logical components that enable Ethernet networking. This includes the cabling (like twisted pair or fiber optic), network interface cards (NICs) in devices, switches, routers, and the protocols that govern data transmission. The primary function of an Ethernet infrastructure is to create a Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN) that allows devices to communicate with each other.

The physical layer of an Ethernet infrastructure involves the transmission medium, such as Cat 5e, Cat 6, or Cat 6a cables for wired connections, or Wi-Fi for wireless access points. These cables connect devices to network switches, which are central hubs that direct traffic within the network. Routers, on the other hand, connect different networks together, enabling communication beyond the local area.

Logically, Ethernet infrastructure relies on protocols like the Ethernet frame format for packaging data, and the Media Access Control (MAC) address for unique device identification. These elements ensure that data packets are correctly addressed, sent, and received by the intended devices. Modern Ethernet infrastructures are designed for speed and reliability, supporting increasingly demanding applications like video streaming, cloud computing, and IoT devices. The scalability of Ethernet allows it to adapt to growing network needs, from small home networks to large enterprise environments.
