Etüleenvinüülatsetaat, commonly abbreviated as EVA, is a copolymer made from ethylene and vinyl acetate monomers. Its properties are highly dependent on the vinyl acetate content, which can range from a few percent up to around 40%. Higher vinyl acetate content generally leads to greater flexibility, softness, and clarity. EVA is known for its toughness, elasticity, and stress-crack resistance. It is also resistant to UV radiation and can be processed using various methods, including injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding.

EVA finds widespread applications due to its versatile nature. It is frequently used in the production of flexible films and sheets for packaging and agricultural purposes. In the footwear industry, it is a popular material for midsoles of athletic shoes and insoles, providing cushioning and shock absorption. Its adhesive properties make it a component in hot-melt adhesives. EVA is also utilized in the creation of foam products, such as mats, toys, and protective padding. Other uses include coatings, electrical insulation, and as a sealant. Its relatively low melting point and good processing characteristics contribute to its broad industrial adoption.
