Eritavates
Eritavates is a genus of extinct birds that lived during the Eocene epoch. Fossils of eritavates have been found in the Green River Formation in Wyoming, United States. This formation is known for its exceptional preservation of fossilized organisms, including a wide variety of birds. Eritavates is classified within the order Pelecaniformes, which includes modern pelicans, cormorants, and ibises.
The type species, Eritavates wmillani, is described from a partial skeleton. Analysis of the fossil remains
The discovery of eritavates contributes to our understanding of avian evolution during the early Cenozoic era.
