Entaschung

Entaschung refers to the process of removing ash from furnaces, boilers, or other combustion devices. This accumulated ash is a byproduct of burning fuel, such as coal, wood, or waste materials. The frequency and method of entaschung depend on the type of combustion unit, the fuel used, and the operational load.

In industrial settings, such as power plants, large quantities of ash are generated. This ash can be removed manually or through automated systems. Manual entaschung involves workers physically clearing the ash from hoppers or collection points. Automated systems often employ mechanical conveyors, pneumatic transport, or hydraulic methods to move the ash to designated disposal or processing areas.

The ash itself can be classified into different types. Bottom ash, for instance, is the heavier, coarser material that falls to the bottom of the combustion chamber. Fly ash, on the other hand, consists of finer particles that are carried away with the flue gases and are typically collected using electrostatic precipitators or baghouses.

Proper entaschung is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of combustion operations. If ash accumulates excessively, it can impede airflow, reduce heat transfer, and potentially lead to equipment damage or operational failures.
