Engangskopper

Engangskopper, also known as disposable cups, are vessels designed for single use and then discarded. They are commonly made from materials such as paper, plastic, or styrofoam, with paper cups often coated with a thin layer of plastic or wax to prevent leakage. Plastic versions are typically made from PET or polypropylene, while styrofoam cups are made from expanded polystyrene.

The primary advantage of engangskopper is their convenience. They eliminate the need for washing and are easily portable, making them popular for events, parties, picnics, and on-the-go consumption of beverages. They are also seen as hygienic as each cup is new.

However, engangskopper raise significant environmental concerns. The production of these cups consumes resources and energy, and their disposal contributes to landfill waste. While some paper cups are recyclable, the plastic coating can complicate the process, and many are not accepted in standard recycling streams. Plastic and styrofoam cups are particularly problematic due to their slow decomposition rates and potential to break down into microplastics.
