Energitrauma

Energitrauma is a term sometimes used to describe a range of physical and psychological symptoms believed to be caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF). Individuals who report experiencing energitrauma often describe non-specific symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, sleep disturbances, skin irritation, and difficulties with concentration. They may attribute these symptoms to sources like mobile phones, Wi-Fi networks, power lines, or other electrical devices.

The concept of energitrauma is not recognized as a medical diagnosis by mainstream scientific and medical bodies. Extensive research has been conducted into the potential health effects of EMF exposure, particularly from radiofrequency (RF) radiation emitted by mobile phones and wireless technologies. International organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and national health agencies have reviewed this research. Their consensus, based on current scientific evidence, is that there is no consistent and convincing evidence to support a causal link between exposure to EMF at levels typically encountered in daily life and the reported symptoms.

While the scientific community generally does not recognize energitrauma as a distinct medical condition, the distress experienced by individuals who believe they are affected is real. This phenomenon is sometimes discussed in relation to electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), a term used by those experiencing symptoms they attribute to EMF exposure. The WHO acknowledges that EHS symptoms are real and can be disabling, but states that current research does not substantiate a direct link to EMF exposure. Alternative explanations for symptoms, such as nocebo effects and pre-existing health conditions, are often considered in scientific and clinical discussions.
