Elternknotens
Elternknoten is a German term used in graph theory, tree data structures, and genealogical diagrams to denote the node that serves as the direct parent of another node. The form Elternknotens is the genitive singular, used in phrases such as die Beziehung des Elternknotens or die Rolle des Elternknotens to indicate possession or attribution.
In rooted trees, every node except the root has exactly one Elternknoten, which establishes the parent-child
In genealogical contexts, a person represented as a node may have an Elternknoten corresponding to their parent
Variations and related terms include Knoten (node) in general, Kindknoten (child node), and Wurzel or Stammbaum
