Ellados

Ellados is a fictional archipelago and federated nation used in worldbuilding and speculative fiction. It consists of eight principal islands and numerous islets in a temperate maritime zone, with rugged coasts, volcanic interiors, and diverse ecosystems. The capital is Lirae, located on the central island, Serin, and the population is culturally diverse.

The name Ellados derives from the ancient Elladic term meaning "many shores," reflecting its geography. In fictional scholarship, Ellados is cited as a classic example of inter-island identity within a federation.

The archipelago features kelp forests, coral bays, and mountainous interiors. Climate is maritime and temperate, with mild, wet winters and dry summers. Fisheries and seaweed farming are important economic activities, supported by a network of sheltered harbors.

Settlement traces to early seafaring communities, followed by trade-based unification under a regional council. The modern federation emerged through constitutional reforms in the 19th century, establishing autonomous island administrations and a central government.

Ellados operates as a constitutional federation. The central government handles defense, foreign affairs, and macroeconomic policy; island councils retain authority over education, health, land use, and local services. Elections are held regularly, and civil rights are protected.

The economy is mixed, with fishing, shipbuilding, tourism, and renewable energy as pillars. Elladic languages are spoken alongside a common lingua franca; cultural life features maritime festivals, crafts, and culinary traditions centered on seafood and citrus.
