Elenergimätare

Elenergimätare, often referred to as an electricity meter or energy meter, is a device that measures the amount of electrical energy consumed by a residence, business, or an electrically powered device. It quantifies electrical energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh), which is the standard unit for billing electricity consumption. These meters are essential for utility companies to accurately charge customers for their usage and for consumers to monitor their energy consumption patterns.

Historically, elenergimätare were mechanical devices with rotating discs. As electricity flowed through the meter, it caused the disc to spin at a speed proportional to the power being consumed.
