Elektrolyyttivapaa

Elektrolyyttivapaa is a Finnish term meaning “free of electrolyte.” It describes a condition, material, or process in which no electrolyte—the substance that dissociates into ions to carry electric current—is present. The term is used in various fields to indicate the absence or avoidance of conventional electrolytes in a system.

In electrochemistry and related disciplines, elektrolyyttivapaa refers to environments or technologies where ionic conduction is not achieved through a liquid or gel electrolyte.
