Elektrodiemissio

Elektrodiemissio, also known as electrodeless discharge or electrodeless emission, refers to a phenomenon in physics and chemistry where atoms or molecules in a gas emit light or other electromagnetic radiation when excited by an electric discharge without the use of solid electrodes. This process is commonly observed in gas discharge lamps and certain types of plasma sources.

In an electrodeless setup, the excitation of gas atoms or molecules typically occurs through high-frequency electromagnetic fields, such as radio waves or microwaves, rather than through direct electrical contact with electrodes. The energy from these fields ionizes the gas, creating a plasma, which then emits radiation as electrons transition between energy levels. This method is particularly useful in applications where a clean, long-lasting, and efficient light source is required, such as in mercury vapor lamps or neon signs.

One of the key advantages of elektrodiemissio is the absence of electrodes, which reduces wear and tear, extends the lifespan of the device, and minimizes contamination of the gas.
