Elektriisolatsioonivõime refers to the ability of a material to resist the flow of electric current. This property is crucial in electrical engineering and is determined by the material's dielectric strength, which is the maximum electric field strength a material can withstand before breakdown. Materials with high electrical insulation capabilities are known as insulators.

Common insulators include rubber, plastic, glass, and ceramics. These materials have tightly bound electrons that are not free to move and conduct electricity. In contrast, conductors like metals have free electrons that can easily move, allowing them to conduct current.
