Ekstrudoitu

Ekstrudoitu is the Finnish term for a material or product that has been formed by extrusion. Extrusion is a manufacturing process in which material is pushed or drawn through a die to create objects with a fixed cross-sectional profile. The term can describe plastics, metals, ceramics and some foods that have been shaped by this method.

In plastics processing, an extruder drives melted polymer through a shaped orifice, producing continuous profiles or pellets after cooling and cutting. In metal processing, hot or cold extrusion pushes a billet through a die to form shapes such as tubes or rails. Ceramic extrusion uses ceramic slurry forced through dies to form complex shapes; in some cases debinding and firing follow to achieve final strength and porosity.

In food contexts, extruded products include pasta shapes, snack items and pet foods, where dough or slurry is forced through dies under controlled temperature and moisture. The physical properties of an ekstrudoitu component depend on process parameters such as temperature, pressure, screw design, and die geometry, which influence orientation, density and surface finish. Ekstrudoitu items often allow rapid production, continuous lengths or repeatable cross-sections, and can be designed for specific mechanical or functional requirements.

In industrial terminology, the output is called an extrudate. The adjective ekstrudoitu describes the state of being produced by extrusion and can apply to finished parts, semi-finished products or feedstock prepared for subsequent processing.
