Einschüben

Einschüben (plural Einschüben) is a German noun derived from the verb einschieben, meaning to push in or slide into. It denotes either the act of inserting something into a receptacle or the inserted part itself. In technical and everyday language, the term is used for small components or pieces inserted to achieve a function such as alignment, spacing, or fixation.

In carpentry and furniture making, Einschüben refer to wooden or synthetic inserts used to repair joints, align panels, or compensate for material wear. In metalworking and mechanical engineering, the term can refer to spacers, dowel-like inserts, or threaded inserts (Gewinde-Einsätze) that are press- or screw-in to provide a durable thread or bearing surface. They serve to adjust spacing, compensate tolerances, or reinforce joints.

In construction, Einschüben may describe metal or plastic blocks placed in gaps to improve alignment or to support assemblies, for instance in window or door frames, cabinetry, or machinery housings.
