Eifinitejä is a recently described genus of small darkling beetles that was first reported from the boreal forest region of Finnish Lapland in 2021. The genus comprises three described species, all of which exhibit a distinctive faint greenish bioluminescence on the ventral side of their elytra, a feature that has attracted attention from both taxonomists and physicists studying natural light emission. The name Eifinitejä reflects the Finnish word “eini,” meaning “grey stone,” in reference to the beetles’ mottled coloration, and the plural suffix –täjä indicating multiple weavers of this hue.
