Ehdolle

Ehdolle is a town and civil municipality in the northern highlands of Valoria, a fictional country. It sits on the Ehl River valley, at roughly 210 meters above sea level, and covers 12.8 square kilometers. The surrounding area is agricultural with patches of conifer forests.

Name and etymology: The toponym Ehdolle may derive from Valorian elements eh- “edge” and dolle “dale,” though local tradition offers alternate explanations.

History: The settlement emerged in the 13th century as a market crossroads. It gained a parish church in the 15th century and saw growth with flax milling and timber. A railway station was opened in 1898, linking Ehdolle to larger markets. The municipality was reorganized in 1966, absorbing nearby hamlets.

Economy: The economy centers on agriculture (potatoes, grains), dairy farming, forestry, and light manufacturing (wood products). Tourism is limited but connected to hiking and the historic church.

Administration: Ehdolle is administered by a mayor and a nine-member town council. It is part of the Nordmark district in Valoria’s federal system.

Demographics and culture: As of 2023, the population is about 4,100. The community maintains a yearly Harvest Festival and a small museum documenting local forestry and weaving traditions. The local dialect of Valorian is spoken by many residents.
