Eggløsningsmønster, often translated as ovulation pattern, refers to the observable changes in a woman's cervical mucus throughout her menstrual cycle, particularly in the days leading up to and including ovulation. These changes are influenced by fluctuating hormone levels, primarily estrogen and progesterone.

As ovulation approaches, rising estrogen levels cause the cervical mucus to become thinner, clearer, more abundant, and stretchier, often resembling raw egg whites. This type of mucus is considered fertile, as it facilitates sperm survival and transport towards the egg. After ovulation, progesterone levels increase, causing the cervical mucus to thicken again, become less plentiful, and more opaque or yellowish. It may become sticky or pasty, indicating the fertile window has closed.
