EUfunded

EUfunded is a term used to describe projects, programs, or activities that receive financial support from the European Union budget and its various funding programs. EUfunded initiatives can operate at EU, national, regional, or local levels and span sectors such as research and innovation, education and training, regional development, environment, agriculture, and social inclusion.

Funding sources for EUfunded activities include the Structural and Investment Funds (including the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund, and the Common Agricultural Policy's rural development funds), as well as thematic programs like Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, LIFE, and Creative Europe. Funding is typically awarded through calls for proposals or procurement processes conducted by the European Commission or its agencies, with awards made via grant agreements, financing agreements, or contracts. Disbursement follows eligible costs and project milestones, and co-financing may be required from national or regional authorities.

Governance and compliance are managed by the European Commission and designated managing authorities at member-state level. Projects must adhere to EU rules on competition, public procurement, state aid, environmental and social standards, and gender equality. Anti-fraud activities are carried out by EU bodies such as OLAF, with audits by the European Court of Auditors.

Transparency and reporting requirements require beneficiaries to provide progress and financial reports, and many EUfunded projects are listed in public databases. Data on funded projects are often available through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and related open-data platforms.
