EURpallets

EUR pallets, also known as EPAL pallets, are a standardized wooden pallet format used across Europe and many other regions. They are designed for efficient handling with forklifts and pallet jacks and for interchangeability in supply chains. The standardization is maintained by the European Pallet Association (EPAL).

Dimensions: The most common size is EUR 1: 800 by 1200 mm. A second widely used size is EUR 2: 1000 by 1200 mm. The pallets are four-way entry pallets, allowing access from all four sides by forklifts. They are built with top deck boards and a bottom deck, typically using durable softwood. The construction and materials follow EPAL specifications to ensure uniform load distribution and reliability.

Quality and lifecycle: Pallets are manufactured by EPAL-licensed producers and bear a stamp displaying the country of origin, year of production, and license number. They are designed to be repaired and reconditioned; damaged boards or blocks are replaced to extend service life. Many pallets circulate in rental or pooling schemes across Europe, with returns to pool centers for refurbishment, which supports sustainability and cost efficiency in logistics.

Impact and usage: The EUR pallet standard underpins cross-border shipping, warehousing, and retail logistics in Europe and beyond, simplifying handling, reducing damage, and enabling efficient use of automation and palletizing equipment.
