EURPalett

The EUR Pallet, commonly known as Europalette, is a standardized wooden pallet defined by the EPAL (European Pallet Association) specification. It is widely used across Europe to enable interchange of pallets among suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics networks. EPAL-certified pallets are produced by licensed manufacturers and inspected to ensure compatibility with standard handling equipment and intermodal transport.

The standard size is 1200 mm by 800 mm, with four-way forklift access. It is typically constructed from kiln-dried timber and uses two stringers with a top and bottom deck arrangement. This design supports uniform load distribution and compatibility with common pallet jacks, conveyors, and stacking systems. Each pallet bears a quality stamp indicating EPAL compliance, country of origin, and a production or inspection identifier to ensure traceability.

For international shipments, EPAL pallets are commonly heat-treated to ISPM 15 requirements to meet plant health and pest-control regulations. The EPAL marks (including the EPAL logo, country code, and year or license information) help verify that a pallet is produced to standard specifications and eligible for exchange within the EPAL network. Damaged pallets are typically repaired by EPAL-certified repairers or retired and replaced to maintain interchangeability.

Impact and use: The EUR pallet standardization supports efficient handling and storage, reduces damage during transit, and facilitates cross-border logistics. It is a central element of European supply chains, complemented by repair networks and a certification system that maintains consistency across millions of pallets.
