EPAdditive
EPAdditive is a term that can refer to a variety of substances added to materials to impart specific properties. The "EP" often signifies "Extreme Pressure," indicating that the additive is designed to function under high-load conditions. These additives are commonly found in lubricants, such as industrial oils and greases, where they prevent wear and scuffing of metal surfaces that are in close contact. Under extreme pressure, traditional lubricants can be squeezed out from between moving parts, leading to direct metal-to-metal contact. EP additives react with the metal surfaces at these high temperatures and pressures, forming a sacrificial layer that prevents welding and catastrophic failure.
In the context of polymers and plastics, an EPAdditive might also refer to an additive that enhances
