ENscore
ENscore is a proprietary scoring system developed by the European Network of Excellence for the Evaluation of Antimicrobial Activity (ENA). It is designed to standardize and simplify the interpretation of antimicrobial susceptibility test results, making it easier for clinicians to make informed decisions about antibiotic treatment. The ENscore system assigns a score to each antimicrobial agent based on its likelihood of being effective against a particular pathogen, taking into account factors such as the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the clinical breakpoints for that pathogen. The scores range from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating a greater likelihood of efficacy. ENscore has been widely adopted in Europe and is recognized by the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) as a reference method for interpreting antimicrobial susceptibility test results. It is particularly useful in the context of multidrug-resistant pathogens, where accurate interpretation of susceptibility test results is crucial for effective treatment. The ENscore system is continually updated to reflect the latest epidemiological data and clinical guidelines, ensuring that it remains a reliable tool for clinicians.
