ENEC

ENEC stands for the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation. It is a United Arab Emirates (UAE) federal entity established in December 2009 by Presidential decree. ENEC's primary mission is to develop and operate the UAE's first peaceful nuclear energy program. The corporation is responsible for the entire nuclear power plant lifecycle, from project management and procurement to construction, operation, and maintenance.

ENEC's flagship project is the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, located in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi. This plant consists of four APR-1400 reactor units, designed and supplied by the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). The development of the Barakah plant aims to diversify the UAE's energy mix, reduce its carbon footprint, and provide a reliable source of baseload electricity. The project adheres to the highest international standards of safety, security, and non-proliferation.
