ELTpipeline

ELTpipeline is a modular software framework designed to support the development, deployment, and analysis of English language proficiency assessments. It provides an end-to-end pipeline that can manage item authoring, item banking, test assembly, delivery, automated scoring, equating, standard setting, and reporting within a single workflow.

The project originated as an open-source initiative to standardize interfaces between disparate assessment components and to facilitate collaboration among researchers, test developers, and educational technology providers.

Key features include a pluggable architecture with components for item authoring, item type support (multiple-choice, constructed-response), test assembly with blueprinting, scoring modules including automated and rubric-based scoring, item calibration and equating, and dashboards for psychometric reporting.

Data interoperability relies on standards such as QTI for item formats and LTI for LMS integration and JSON or XML for internal data exchange.

Typical use cases include large-scale proficiency assessments, language program evaluation, and research experiments; ELTpipeline can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud and integrates with learning management systems via LTI.
