Díjbekér

Díjbekérő is a business document used by a supplier or service provider to request payment from a customer for goods delivered or services rendered. It functions as a payment request and is often used before or alongside a formal invoice, especially in business‑to‑business relations. The díjbekérő helps establish the amount due, the terms of payment, and the expected due date, without replacing the official tax documents.

Common content of a díjbekérő includes: the seller’s and the buyer’s identifying information, a description of the goods or services, quantities and unit prices, the subtotal, any applicable VAT and total amount due, payment terms and due date, and the supplier’s bank details or payment methods. It may also reference the relevant contract, order or project numbers and include a validity period for the offer.

Relation to invoices and tax documents: a díjbekérő is not a formal tax document. In Hungary, the invoice (számla) is the official document used for VAT reporting and legal accounting requirements. A díjbekérő may be issued as a preliminary request, a reminder, or a pro forma-like document to confirm terms and prepare for issuing the official számla later. It does not replace the requirement to provide a számla for tax purposes.

Practical use: common in scenarios such as advance payments, milestone-based billing, retainer arrangements, or when the seller wants to formalize payment expectations before issuing the official számla. For clarity and recordkeeping, many businesses clearly label the document as díjbekérő and ensure consistency with their contractual terms.
