Décaféiné
Décaféiné is the French term for decaffeinated. It refers to coffee or tea from which most of the caffeine has been removed. This process is typically done using water, organic solvents, or carbon dioxide. While decaffeination removes a significant portion of the caffeine, it is impossible to remove it entirely. The decaffeination process can slightly alter the flavor and aroma of the beverage, though modern methods aim to minimize these changes. Decaffeinated coffee and tea are popular choices for individuals who wish to reduce their caffeine intake due to health concerns, sleep disturbances, or personal preference. The decaffeination process itself does not remove other compounds present in coffee or tea, such as antioxidants. Therefore, decaffeinated beverages still retain many of the health benefits associated with their caffeinated counterparts. The term "décaféiné" is commonly found on product packaging and menus in French-speaking regions and internationally.
