Dämpningsmotstånd

Dämpningsmotstånd, often translated as damping resistor or snubber resistor, is a type of resistor used in electrical circuits to absorb unwanted energy and reduce oscillations or voltage spikes. These resistors are typically employed in conjunction with other components like capacitors and inductors to create a damping circuit, also known as a snubber circuit. The primary function of a dämpningsmotstånd is to dissipate energy that would otherwise cause undesirable effects in the circuit.

These resistors are particularly useful in switching power supplies, motor control circuits, and other applications where sudden changes in current or voltage occur. For example, when an inductive load is switched off, the collapsing magnetic field can induce a high voltage spike. A snubber circuit, incorporating a dämpningsmotstånd, can provide a path for this energy to be dissipated safely, preventing damage to sensitive components.
