Dynjandi

Dynjandi, also known as Fjallfoss, is a prominent waterfall in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It sits beside the Arnarfjörður fjord along Route 60 and is often cited as the largest waterfall in the Westfjords and one of Iceland’s most memorable cascades.

The falls comprise a series of ledges that descend in a broad, fan-shaped cascade. The total drop is commonly described as about 100 meters, with the upper tiers feeding into a wide curtain at the base. The water originates from the surrounding mountains and the meltwater supply, producing a powerful roar, especially after rain.

Access is via a parking area and a wooden viewing platform at the foot of the fall, with a walking path that leads to higher overlooks above the upper tiers. The area is rural and remote, and conditions can be challenging in winter; visitors should check road and weather advisories.
