Dunlopun

Dunlopun is a fictional coastal town in the northern region of Eldoria, located along the Dun River estuary opposite the island of Kestral. The town’s name derives from the Dunlop family, early settlers who established a fortified manor in the 14th century. Geographically, Dunlopun sits on a shallow harbor with grassy bluffs and a temperate maritime climate; summers are mild and winters cool, with regular fog and modest rainfall.

Historically a fishing and trading port, Dunlopun grew as a market town in the late medieval period. The arrival of the railway in the early 20th century linked it to larger urban centers, though most heavy industry faded by mid-century. In recent decades the economy diversified to include port services, aquaculture, light manufacturing, and tourism.

The population is concentrated in a compact urban center, with a mix of traditional and contemporary housing. The local government operates a mayor–council system within Norden Province, and municipal services are administered by a small administrative staff.

Culturally, Dunlopun hosts the annual Sea Lantern Festival and maintains a coastal craft market. Landmarks include the ruins of Dunlopun Fort, the Old Pier, and the Market Hall. Transportation links comprise a regional highway, a passenger ferry service to Kestral Island, and a short rail spur in nearby Brinwald. Education is provided by Dunlopun Primary School and Dunlopun Community College.
