Dráhami

Dráhami is a constructed language created for worldbuilding and linguistic study. It is spoken by the fictional Dráhami people in the Dráha Highlands, a highland region in the northern continent of Elarion. The language is designed to illustrate agglutinative morphology, postpositional syntax, and a relatively flexible word order, while retaining a core subject–object–verb structure in main clauses. The project envisions several regional varieties that maintain mutual intelligibility through a standardized form.

Phonology and writing: Dráhami has five vowel phonemes /a e i o u/ and a consonant system that includes p, t, k, b, d, g, m, n, s, l, r. It features vowel length or stress marked with diacritics in the orthography, most notably á. The script is a Latin-based alphabet with diacritics and a small set of digraphs to render a few phonemes.

Grammar: The language is predominantly suffixing. Nouns take suffixes for number and definiteness, adjectives follow the nouns and agree in number, and verbs encode aspect and mood through affixes and clitics. Postpositions mark spatial and other grammatical relations; typical sentences follow a primary subject–object–verb order, though flexible ordering is permitted for emphasis.

Status: In the fictional setting, Dráhami has a developing body of folk stories, poetry, and educational materials. It exists as a minority language within its world but is the focus of revitalization efforts by community scholars and language activists.
