Dryliners

Drylining, also known as drywall or plasterboard installation, is a construction process that involves creating interior walls and ceilings using panels of gypsum plasterboard. These panels are manufactured with a core of gypsum sandwiched between two sheets of heavy paper. Dryliners are skilled tradespeople who specialize in this method of finishing interior surfaces.

The process typically begins with the erection of a metal or timber stud framework, which provides a structure to which the plasterboard panels are attached. The panels are then cut to size and fixed to the studwork using screws. Joints between the panels are then taped and filled with jointing compound. This compound is applied in multiple layers, with sanding between each layer, to create a smooth and seamless surface. Once the jointing is complete and dried, the walls and ceilings are ready for decoration, such as painting or wallpapering.

Drylining offers several advantages over traditional wet plastering methods. It is generally faster, cleaner, and less labor-intensive. It also provides excellent fire resistance, sound insulation, and thermal insulation depending on the type of plasterboard used. Specialized boards, such as moisture-resistant or acoustic plasterboard, can be incorporated to meet specific project requirements. Dryliners play a crucial role in modern construction, contributing to the efficient and effective creation of interior spaces.
