Draiveritest

Draiveritest is an open-source framework for automated testing of device drivers and low-level hardware interfaces. It provides a portable, extensible test harness designed to exercise drivers in isolation as well as in real hardware under varied conditions. The project aims to improve regression coverage, reliability, and reproducibility of driver behavior across platforms.

The architecture centers on a core test runner, a hardware abstraction layer, and a set of adapters that enable testing against common operating systems and environments. Tests can run against real hardware or on emulated or simulated targets, allowing for determinism in CI pipelines and complex failure scenarios that are hard to reproduce with physical devices.

Tests are commonly authored in C or C++, with optional bindings for higher-level languages. Test definitions can be organized into suites and discovered automatically by the runner. Results are emitted as human-readable logs and machine-readable reports (XML/JSON) suitable for continuous integration, with support for timeouts, fixtures, parameterized tests, and fault-injection scenarios.

Usage typically involves writing a driver test, wiring it to the appropriate adapters, and selecting a target platform. The framework supports local development, remote hardware farms, and hardware-in-the-loop configurations, and can integrate with existing CI systems.
