Downlighting
Downlighting is a lighting technique in which fixtures are installed in or under a ceiling to direct light downward toward a task, surface, or area. The light generally emits predominantly toward the lower plane with little upward light, reducing glare and spill compared with open overhead lighting. Common downlighting fixtures include recessed can lights (also called downlight cans), surface-mounted downlights, and some track or architectural fixtures designed to emit a focused downward beam.
