Doublepairs

Doublepairs refers to a specific card combination found in certain card games, most notably in some variations of poker and rummy. The term describes a hand that contains two distinct pairs. For example, in a five-card hand, a doublepair would consist of two cards of one rank, two cards of another rank, and one remaining card of a different rank. This is often more commonly known as two pair. The strength of a doublepair hand varies depending on the game's rules and the specific ranks of the pairs. Higher ranking pairs generally result in a stronger hand. In poker, for instance, two pair is a relatively strong hand, outranked by three of a kind, straights, flushes, and full houses. The ranking of two pair hands is determined first by the higher pair, and then by the lower pair if the higher pairs are equal. The fifth card, known as the kicker, is only used to break ties between players who both hold two pair of the same ranks. The concept of doublepairs emphasizes the strategic importance of card combinations and their hierarchical value within the context of card games.
