This is particularly relevant in organ transplantation, where a donor's organ is surgically placed into a recipient to replace a diseased or damaged organ. In medicine, the donor-recipient paradigm extends to blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants. Conversely, an acceptor atom readily accepts an electron, creating a "hole" and making the material p-type.
