Dolaziti

Dolaziti is a verb of the Serbo-Croatian language family, meaning “to come” or “to arrive” in an imperfective sense. It is used to describe coming toward a place in an ongoing, repeated, or habitual way, or when the arrival is not treated as a single completed event. Its perfective counterpart is doći, which denotes a single, completed arrival. The noun dolazak means arrival, and the adjective dolazni derives from the same root.

In standard usage, dolaziti expresses general or repeated action rather than a one-time event. It often appears in contexts such as habitual visits, plans, or processes of coming toward someone or something. Typical examples include: “Dolazim kući svakog dana” (I come home every day) and “Kada ćeš dolaziti?” (When will you be coming?). The verb can also appear in past forms to indicate a repeated or ongoing past activity, for example “Dolazio sam često prošle zime” (I used to come often last winter).

Conjugation notes: in the present tense the forms are: ja dolazim, ti dolaziš, on dolazi, mi dolazimo, vi dolazite, oni dolaze. Past tense variants depend on gender and number (dolazio sam, dolazila si, dolazili smo, etc.). The future is typically formed with an auxiliary particle plus the infinitive (for example, dolaziću or dolazit ću), reflecting the imperfective aspect.

Dolaziti participates in several idioms and constructions, such as dolaziti u obzir (to come into consideration) and ne dolazi u obzir (it does not come into consideration). The verb is cognate across Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian usage and closely related to the noun dolazak and to the verb doći (the corresponding perfective form).
